After falling through a hole in the earth, we emerge in...

Omaha, Nebraska! Yes, we are back in good ol' Omaha. I'm working back at the State and Dan is enjoying his free time and learning how to be a good Haus-Frau! And while he may have some to learn, he's doing just fine.
Why the move? Well, we had been living in Boise and loved being so close to my family...but after 8 months, we felt it was time we head back to the MidWest...it was a hard move for me, I think Dan would have turned the truck around just to keep me from crying.
But, here we are and we are settled in a quaint (aka tiny) little rental house with a huge backyard for Ranger. Unfortunately, the fence is only 3 feet tall and with the enormous snow fall we've had, he's been able to jump the fence and escape a couple of times. Luckily, he comes back-eventually.
We have also added to our little pet filled house-we bought Cleo (another ferret) around our 1 year anniversary and Pixie just loves having a friend. Now, if would could just keep Cleo from getting into the oven and putting out the pilot light with her whiskers we'd be doing good!
Eventually we want to buy a house and unpack the rest of our stuff...but until then we are pretty content with where we are at. Maybe our landlord will let us fix up the place in lieu of some rent :)
Well, that's about it...

Introducing....Ranger and Pixie!

Okay, so most of you already know about Pixie, but up until now I've not posted any pictures. So I thought it would be an ideal opportunity to do so, especially since we've added another member to our family.

Ranger...he's an 8week old German Sheperd and he's gorgeous! Despite the accidents (there have only been 3 that we know of), early mornings to take him out (it's still a new place and he doesn't like to be out there on his own), the whining when we leave him in the back yard so we can run errands, and the chewing (oh the chewing...luckily nothing has been destroyed...he got ahold of my white healed sandals from the wedding, but I saved them from utter destruction)...speaking of shoes and chewing he just stole my black heals that Amy and Tracy gave me...catastrophe averted...how could you not love his face!!

Most of you know, I'm not much of a dog person (let's be honest, I'm not much of a pet person) but I opened my big mouth on Friday. Saturday happened to be Dan's big year mark since he quit smoking...so while I was helping him mow lawns I asked what he wanted for his anniversary. He said another ferret or a puppy. So I called the landlord (cuz honestly, I knew there was no way we could ever afford the kind of puppy he wanted)...and we got the green light for either. So on the way home we talked about our options. Dan was set on getting a German Sheperd but was so picky about age and gender that when you throw in our price range there was no way unless we got lucky at the Humane Society. So I said...Honey if you can find a male German Sheperd Puppy, under a year old for under $150 he's yours. Safe right? Those puppies are usually over $500 (if not $1000) especially if they are purebreds.

So what does he do? He finds german sheperd puppies on craigslist within minutes of getting home...the price?? $100! So he calls and there is one left...a male. He gets the address, we hit the bank (just in case) and end up at a house with an old Ford party bus parked in front. Once I saw the puppy and the look on Dan's face, there was no turning back. So despite the man's warning of whining and crying (especially in the car) we loaded up out little bundle of fur and claws and headed to Petco for supplies.

Petco is were the pets go...unfortunately, since the puppy hadn't had his shots yet (and apparently he's 2 weeks overdue) we could take him in, but Dan had to hold him the entire time. We walked out of that store armed for our first night (squeaky toy, food/water dish, food, collar and leash...and a free handful of doggy cookies thanks to the cashier)...we held off on the pooper scooper until the next day (and I hit Walmart)...and since kennels are so gosh darn expensive he's been sleeping in our room on blankets...and it works pretty well. We are still looking for one and hopefully craigslist will pull through for us.

So that's the latest and greatest...Ranger spends his time sleeping, eating and wrestling with Dan...he'll chase Pixie if we let him (and sometimes we do...we're hoping eventually they will co-exist quite well together). And we spend out time trying to avoid accidents and working...

Employment...the end of an era

So, I finally have a job...hooray! Only, now I have to be an adult, get up early and go to work...my days of languid, lounging about doing crafts has ended. A moment of silence, please.

Okay, in all reality, this job promises to be fabulous. I get to pick my caseload number...max is 6-7 for full time. I'm starting out part time though...so I'll still have lots of time. They pay well, reimburse my mileage and give me a cell phone so clients can call and not have my home number.
Oh, did I mention that I don't have to wear business casual clothes...that's right, jeans....woohoo!

I start training tomorrow morning, then I shadow for however long and then they throw me into the fire and I'm on my own.

Thanks to everyone for your words of encouragement and the many prayers I know have been utter in our behalf.

We continue to do well and love the area here in Boise. I'm the Senior Primary Music leader at church and so far have avoided having to speak in Sacrament (the same can't be said for Dan...who gave a wonderful talk on the temple last month).
I continue with my addiction to pillowcases (check out tadpolesnpolywogs.blogspot.com sorry it doesn't look cooler) and fending off feet attacks from Pixie (who is using her litter box more regularly).

More to come...as things continue to happen in our neck of the woods.

At last....

We are mostly settled in our little rental in Boise Idaho. Dan is busy trying to be busy at work (little does he know that this is the only time during 'the season' when it's like this and come mid March he will be begging for the relaxed nature of pre-season advertising). I'm still trying to find a job...Dan may disagree but I think over 50 resumes in a month, not to mention the hundreds of posts my mother forwarded me from craigslist that without fail are gone once I get to them. In any event, I keep pretty busy keeping the house in organized chaos, trying to find lamp shades on clearance, large mirrors at the DI or on craigslist, picking up after Pixie (our cute, but foot fettished ferret..I'll post pics later) and playing with Jackson. Not to mention the crafts that have exploded since I now have my own little corner/room (though not well insulated) in the house. I think I have over 6 car seat covers cut out waiting to be sewn, and 3 sets of the cutest pillowcases ready for the serger. So if any of you faithful readers are interested in the perfect baby shower gift or just want to revamp your (or your kids) bedroom...send me a little note with fabric preferences and I'll see what I can do. We'll talk prices later...
In any event...I had best be off to fix dinner, let Pixie out to scamper about the house and be always vigilant in my pursuit of ferret poop in the corner! Happy Days!

Cha-cha-cha-Changes!

Gotta love a little Bowie.
So, it's been almost 3 months since Dan and I got married...and what a ride it's been. We survived our 2nd reception, first Thanksgiving and Christmas without too much grief and/or pain. Dan made out like a bandit at Christmas (see the pictures) and I didn't do too badly myself.
Unfortunately, this living with a guy has some pretty serious side effects...I now know way more then any girl should about the WWE (Raw, Smack Down, TNA)...and have found myself cheering when idiots and jerks get fired. What has my life come to?

At Dan's urging I chopped off my hair...and my sassier side emerged!

We are now down to 1 1/2 short weeks before we pack up our little trailer and hit the road...hopefully we'll be pulling into our cute little rental by the 3rd of February...

Dan's excited to be somewhere that allows pets (ferrets and dogs...and he wants them both) and I'm excited to have a craft room.
Cross your fingers that the snow holds off until we get across Nebraska, Wyoming and Utah...it can dump all it wants once we cross each border...

Hello....

Since Dan and I have been married for just over 2 weeks, we thought it would be a good idea to start a family blog...no promises that posts will be regularly made, or updated...but we're sure going to try. (for those that don't know how we met, etc...check out crazyoldladies.blogspot.com for details)

Latest breaking news....

We've decided to pack up our little one bedroom apartment and move 1800 miles west-to the great state of IDAHO. Don't get too excited, we still have a couple of months before we actually pack up and leave Nebraska, but the decision has been made. And apparently is final. Dan will be working for Jeremiah. As for me...well, I'm not sure where I'll be working, hopefully someplace that pays well until little additions come along. (any thoughts or job suggestions would be appreciated).

Our second reception is this Saturday...we're trying to keep things simple-for those of you attending, please let us know how well we did.

I think that's it for now...we're about to watch an episode of Cold Case and then we're headed to bed---okay sickos to sleep...we're going to bed to SLEEP!
